3 days Fes to Marrakech desert tour

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga Desert

Your tour begins early in the morning with a departure from Fes, heading south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Enjoy a scenic stop in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its European-style architecture and alpine environment.

Next, we drive through Azrou, surrounded by cedar forests where you can spot Barbary macaque monkeys in their natural habitat. Continue through small Berber villages to Midelt, a town famous for its apple orchards, where we take a lunch break.

In the afternoon, we pass through the Ziz Valley, lined with palm groves, before arriving at Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, you’ll embark on a sunset camel trek across the dunes, an experience that captures the magical essence of the Sahara.

Arrive at your luxury desert camp, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, and spend the night under the stars with Berber music and drumming around the campfire.

Day 2: Explore Merzouga Desert – Nomads and Dunes

Visit Khamlia village, home of the Gnawa musicians, where you can enjoy their soulful music. Continue to meet Berber nomad families, learning about their traditional way of life and customs. Explore the desert oasis, Hassilabied palm groves, and seasonal Merzouga lake, all while enjoying the serene beauty of the Sahara.

Optional activities include quad biking, sandboarding, or simply relaxing on the dunes. Return to the camp in the evening to watch the sunset, another magical moment in the desert.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

After breakfast, we leave the desert behind and drive through Rissani, the ancient Alaouite capital, where you can explore the traditional market and local life.

Travel through the Ziz Valley, with its lush palm oases, and continue toward the High Atlas Mountains. Enjoy scenic views as we cross mountain passes and Berber villages along the way.

Arrive in Marrakech by evening, where your tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or riad. You’ll return with unforgettable memories of Morocco’s desert landscapes, mountain scenery, and rich cultural experiences.
