3 Days Morocco Sahara Desert Tour from Fes

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga Desert

Your adventure begins early in the morning as we depart from Fes, heading south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we stop in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine-style architecture and lush green surroundings.

We continue to Azrou, famous for its cedar forests and playful Barbary macaque monkeys. Pass through picturesque Berber villages before reaching Midelt, a mountain town known for its apple orchards. Here we stop for lunch and enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding landscape.

Afterwards, we drive through the Ziz Valley, an endless stretch of lush palm groves, kasbahs, and oases, before reaching the edge of the Sahara Desert in Merzouga. Upon arrival, you’ll mount your camel for a sunset camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes, a truly magical experience.

Arrive at your luxury desert camp, where you can enjoy dinner and a night of Berber music and drumming under the desert stars.

Day 2: Full Day in the Sahara Desert

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the dunes, an unforgettable highlight of the Sahara. After breakfast at the camp, spend the day exploring the desert and its surroundings.

Visit Khamlia village, home of the Gnawa musicians, and experience their unique music and cultural traditions. Travel to a Berber nomad family, learning about traditional desert life and customs. Explore Merzouga oasis, the Hassilabied palm groves, and the Mifis mines, a fascinating geological site.

Optional activities include quad biking, sandboarding, or simply relaxing in the dunes to enjoy the peaceful desert ambiance. End the day with another spectacular sunset camel ride, capturing the ever-changing colors of the Sahara.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Fes

After breakfast, we depart from Merzouga and drive through Rissani, the ancient Alaouite capital, where you can visit the traditional market and observe local life.

Continue through the Ziz Valley, with its extensive palm groves and Kasbahs, then head toward Midelt for lunch and a short rest. We cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through Azrou and Ifrane, enjoying panoramic mountain views before arriving back in Fes in the evening.

Your 3-day Sahara Desert adventure comes to end by dropping you off in Fes, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Morocco’s desert and mountain landscapes.
