4 Days Desert Tour Fes to Marrakech

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga Desert

Your adventure begins early in the morning from Fes, traveling south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Enjoy a scenic stop in Ifrane, the “Switzerland of Morocco,” known for its European-style architecture and clean streets.

Continue to Azrou, surrounded by cedar forests and home to playful Barbary macaque monkeys. Drive through Berber villages and enjoy panoramic views of the mountains before reaching Midelt, a mountain town famous for apple orchards, where we stop for lunch.

In the afternoon, travel through the Ziz Valley, an oasis-filled region lined with palm trees and kasbahs, before reaching Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Embark on a sunset camel trek through the desert and arrive at your luxury desert camp. Enjoy dinner and an evening of Berber music and drumming under the stars.

Day 2: Explore Merzouga Desert – Nomads and Dunes

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast, spend the day exploring the desert.

Visit Khamlia village, famous for the Gnawa musicians, and enjoy a live performance. Meet Berber nomad families to learn about traditional desert life. Explore desert oases, palm groves, and geological sites like the Mifis mines.

Optional activities include quad biking, sandboarding, or simply relaxing in the dunes. In the evening, enjoy another magical sunset camel ride before returning to your desert accommodation.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

After breakfast, leave Merzouga and drive through Rissani, the ancient Alaouite capital, where you can visit a traditional market. Continue toward the Todra Gorge, a stunning canyon with towering limestone cliffs up to 300 meters high.

Explore the gorge with a short walk along the river and marvel at its natural beauty. Then, continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs and the Valley of Roses, arriving in the Dades Valley in the late afternoon.

Enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner and relax in your riad or hotel while surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the valley.

After breakfast, we depart Dades Valley and head toward Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Morocco.” Stop at Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous kasbah featured in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

Continue across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with panoramic mountain views and scenic photo stops. Arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon or evening, where your 4-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or riad.
